Tier 2 General (Skilled Worker)
The Tier 2 (General) visa is for people coming to the UK with a skilled job offer to fill a gap in the workforce that cannot be filled by a settled worker (in the UK).
To apply for a Tier 2 (General visa) as a skilled worker you will need a Sponsor and a valid Certificate of Sponsorship.
In your application you will be awarded points based on your:
Qualifications
Future expected earnings
Sponsorship
English language skills
Available maintenance (funds)
You can apply under the Tier 2 General catagory now if you are:
A national of a country outside the EEA or Switzerland (except Turkey)
In the UK with permission to stay that allows you to switch into the sponsored skilled worker category
Already in the UK as a sponsored skilled worker and want to extend your permission to stay within your existing category
Tier 2 Change of Employment
Tier 2 immigration applicants can do a change of employment if they wish, while they are in the UK. This means changing the company they are working for to another company. As the work permit will have to be changed, the process of getting a Certificate of Sponsorship must be repeated and the applicant must be reconsidered an assessment against the points based system (PBS).
The sponsoring company, (not the applicant) will be responsible for applying for this type of UK visa service.
