Tier 1 General

Under the Tier 1 visa (General) you can work or establish a business in the UK without being required to have a job already arranged.
The tier 1 general visa is based on a points-based system with certain categories in which the points are awarded, these categories are:

Your Qualifications: the minimum qualification level is equivalent to a Bachelor's degree. With your qualifications the higher your qualification is the more points awarded.

Your Earnings: these are your earnings in the country that you live in, the score that will be given to you will depend on your earnings in the last year, and can be calculated over a recent 12-month period. The higher amount of money you have earned in the period the more points you will score.

Your Age: the younger your age is the more points you can qualify.

Your UK experience: the experience you have in the UK, you might have studied here previously or attended some kind of employment.

To meet the criteria you will be required to provide extensive and detailed documentation in the backing support of your application. Certain number of applications usually fails because the applicants do not provide the necessary and sufficient documentary evidence required to support their application.

The two main requirements for the Tier 1 (General) visa is to show that your English your English level/language skills is good enough and that you have your own sufficient funds financially to maintain and accommodate yourself in the UK during the first few months of your stay.

Tier 1 general visa is specifically is designed to allow non-EEA nationals to migrate the UK on the Points Based System, to contribute to the economy of the UK. The Tier 1 general visa application is different to rest of the tier immigration services, this is because it does not require any sponsors and is based on the applicant successfully achieving the points that are necessary.
