Marriage visa

We as the Toprak Consultancy can give you the appropriate advice and help you with your marriage, spouse, partner and or same sex visa applications.

Spouses of UK citizens or permanent residents of the UK, those with indefinite leave to remain, may come to the UK with a marriage visa.

The initial visa is usually granted for two years, and they are able to work as soon as their two years visa is granted. Once you have completed the two years together, you can then apply for a UK permanent residence/indefinite leave to remain in the UK.

To qualify for the permanent residence you will have to prove that you have been living together for the last two years, and have sufficient funds (working full time/earning reasonable wages) to support your family’s living expenses without claiming public funds, and have knowledge of life in the UK.

After a total period of three years in the UK the spouse may apply for UK citizenship.

A marriage visa will allow you to take up employment in the UK without needing to apply for a work permit and there are no restrictions on the type of work which you may undertake. This opportunity allows you to work and look after your partner/family with your own abilities.

In terms of the UK immigration rules, you will only be permitted to bring one husband, wife or civil partner In the UK on a marriage visa.

The partners in the marriage/relationship have to be 21 years of age before a marriage visa can be issued.

Your partner/spouse must apply for an entry clearance before travelling to the UK. If you are willing to bring your unmarried partner to join you in the UK, you will have to refer to UK Fiancé visa.

Dependants
Any dependents including children of the marriage/relationship who are under the age of 18 years will be granted entry to the UK as dependants. They can make their application at the same time as the main applicant, if they wish. After a total period of three years in the country the dependants/children may then apply for British naturalization in order to remain in the country under a grant of UK citizenship. This is only if they meet the residence requirements.

Marriage visa- the spouse has to meet the marriage visa requirements for a successfull application.
